VideoFort shows us this amazing quick tutorial on how to create this seamless looping stair effect!

From The Instructor:

In this After Effects tutorial I’ll show you how Kevin Parry created the stairs effect found on his Instagram account @kevinbparry. A pretty simple and fun effect you can do at home with your iPhone camera. This is essentially very similar to the mirrors tutorial I created a couple of weeks ago but with 1 fundamental difference. When you duplicate your clip for the reverse image, you do not want to reverse the speed. All you need to do is flop the clip and you’ll be good to go!

Check out the Mirrors Effect tutorial here to get a more in depth detailed look into this optical illusion: https://youtu.be/0R67XcTCNWQ

• For this tutorial, I use Adobe After Effects CC 2017. No plugins are required.

KEYS TO SUCCESS:

• When filming, make sure to get that 1-4 frames of no actor/actress and only stairs. You will use this section to cut the clip.
• Duplicate your clip and add the Flop effect.
• Apply a zoom in effect at the cut to help cover up your magic!
